SPELEON Center of Subterranean Heritage - Barac Caves, HR

Highly worth the visit is one more valuable natural site in the immediate vicinity of the Plitvice Lakes NP - Barac Caves.

Certainly the best organized and equipped speleological site in the wider regional, the Barac Caves have been permanently protected as a significant landscape since 29 March 2016 thanks to the Rakovica local community, and from the season 2022 they offer visitors an additional surprise, the latest archaeological finds and the Speleon Center with hyper-realistic specimens of Ice Age animals whose fossilized remains were found in the Upper Barać Cave.

If possible, hire a professional guide to get a better picture of the importance and the sensitivity of the caves.
The caves are open from March to November, seven days a week. Speleon Center is open all year round!
