SPELEON - Center of Subterranean Heritage, HR

Highly worth the visit is one more valuable natural site in the immediate vicinity of the Plitvice Lakes NP - Barac Caves, now closed because the bats are hibernating, but other attractions are wide open!

Certainly the best organized and equipped speleological site in the wider regional, the Barac Caves have been permanently protected as a significant landscape since 29 March 2016, and from the season 2022 they offer visitors an additional surprise, the latest archaeological finds and the Speleon Center with hyper-realistic specimens of Ice Age animals whose fossilized remains were found in the Upper Barać Cave.
